TRANSIT OF VENUS140 (Venus) and 499 (Sun) light-seconds A rare treat for astronomers, this multiple exposure shows Venus in its stately 5 hour transit as it passed between the Earth and the Sun in 2004. Transits occur in pairs eight years apart, but just once a lifetime. The next transit will be in 2012, but if you miss it you will then have to wait until 2117 and 2125.
